So I've gained numerous new friends and numerous
new blog readers. I can see how unless you dive deep into the archives,
you can get confused by my recent blogs. I will put below a summary of
my life since last December. By the way, my accident happened on my
birthday. It was still one of the best nights out with my husband I
won't ever forget.
I have a disorder called Reflex Sympathetic
Dystrophy. Dec. 2, 2006, I was walking on the sidewalk, stepped onto a
covered manhole, the lid tipped inward, and my foot went down into the
hole up to my knee. I twisted sideways, landing on my hip and my elbow.
I landed so hard I bruised my elbow bone. After ER, Primary, Physical
Therapy, Orthopedics, Physical Medicine, and Water Therapy, I finally
heard the term RSD. I immediately went home and started doing research.
The next day, I called the Physical Medicine doctor and requested a
referral to Pain Management and Neurology. She sent me only to pain
management. My first visit with him was on April 23, 2007. Since then,
I have obtained 1 nerve block for diagnostic purposes (gave me 2 days
relief), A trial Spinal Cord Stimulator (loved it until I had a bowel
movement - it wasn't tied into place so it moved). Now I have been
placed with a permanent Spinal Cord Stimulator.
In the doctors
office yesterday, he had a model spine on the counter with the exact
same setup that is under my skin and in my spine now. I took pictures.
Basically
my blog has been to scream and cry and moan and whine; but, then there
were times of good, of fun, of romance, of connection.
